Traveling west on I-80 towards Salt Lake City and had 1.5hrs to spare for something fun....like Golf. This little local nine (9) hole 3,167yd / 69.2 / 111 Par 36 track built in 1967 was 10 minutes off the highway, so why not. To say this area is flat, is a understatement as the slope of 111 says it all. To give a little change up to the layout, there are seven (7) doglegs with the two (2) par 3's being the only straight holes. The greens are on the smaller size that adds to the accuracy needed from your irons. The fairways were very fair in the landing areas and had mostly good full grass to hit from. The rough was a mix of thick grass to sparse with hardpan and scattered trees. The #1 Par 4 is a slight 342yd LH dogleg that was playing into a 15-20mph wind to a slightly raised green. The #2 Par 4 is the same layout but at 381yds its playing long today. The #3 dogleg left (around the pond) Par 5 at 470yds looks short but that head wind adds 20-30yds easy. This #4 Par 3 thats 176yds downwind has a front trap to carry the small green. The #5 Par 5 at 492yds was playing downwind on this slight dogleg right so, grip and rip. The #6 Par 4 is the same layout as #5 only at 390yds to get home. The #7 is 375yd dogleg left Par 4 and a large front sand trap guards the green. The #8 is 180yd Par 3 that goes back into the wind but no trouble being short. Finishing on a 361yd dogleg right Par 4 with a side wind, added joy to my 1 putt Par save on this windy flat course. Ended up shooting 40 w/13 putts because those great smooth greens are.....Small.
