Found this 98 year old course located just off I-94 and had to give it a try. The yardage maybe short with Blues/Tips at 5,421yd / 65.6 / 106 and Reds/Forward 4,595yd but pine tree lined fairways, tighten things up on this Par 33/35 course. With mostly tall pine trees lining the already narrow fairways, staying in the short grass is a real must if you want to score. Surprisingly the greens, though small, are in very good shape and condition. The Front 9 starts out at 388yds Par 4 and is the Hcp 1 hole because of its being narrow 150yds in to a small green. The #2 Par 3 hole at 186yd has a big front sand trap to catch those short shots to another small green. The next two (2) holes (#3 & #4) are short straightaway holes at 331yds and 272yds with small flat greens. The #5 Par 3 at 208yds is a nice flat green that allows short shots coming in to kick on. The #7 Par 3 at 162yds is all carry to the green because of a pond tucked tight to the front of the green. Holes #8 & #9 are side by side 346/356yd straightaway narrow Par 4's to, you guessed it, small greens. The Back 9 starts out with the shortest Par 3 on the course at 133yds but it gets tougher rest of the way home. The #12 maybe a short Par 5 at 454yds but with a pond the last 100yds in, your 2nd shot is a real decision maker. The #13 is a 391yd Hcp 2 dogleg right that requires 200yd drive to see the green with a pond on the RH side. The #15 is a 523yd Par 5 with another pond located 90yds out from the green, challenging those long 2nd shots. The #17 is a short Par 4 at 298yds but has water down the entire RH side and in front of the green. Having a Par 3 as a finishing hole is strange but at 219yds and all water carry (bailout LH side) to the green puts pressure on that tee shot. Ended up shooting 34/40 w/31 putts and having five (5) on putts saved my score for sure. This maybe an older short course but its long on teaching you "If you Stray, You'll Pay" but fairway and greens are in great condition.
