Back in the Phoenix area (Goodyear) again and got a great rate that I missed playing when visiting last December. This is one of the few courses in this area that “overseedes, wall to wall” and conditions couldn’t have been better. The course score card has been changed to match housing/course construction changes...for the better. They now have three (3) championship 9 holes, being North 3,540yd, South 3,475yd and original Par 3 Lake track is a West 3,410yd layout. You need to call in advance to see which two (2) tracks are the 18 loop for that day. This morning we had the South/West loop from the Gold (tips) playing 6,885yds / 72.5 / 129 / Par 36/35 down to Green 4,270yds /61.1 / 95 / Par 36/35 with six tee boxes to choose from. Your first look coming out of the clubhouse is nothing but deep green wide fairway/rough grass where it should be and dirt bordering the edges. Generous Fairways had center sticks, yardage blocks and were mowed tight with no brown spots to be found. Sand traps had heavy sand, raked/fluffed 1” deep with firm bottoms. Greens are fully protected, elevated, large, firm, smooth and we’re rolling between 9-10 this morning. Yes there are homes lining each hole but are far enough away to not come into play or take away from the beautiful tee box view. There is a lot of construction when driving to the West course, but quickly forgotten standing on the first tee box. I couldn’t have gotten in to a better foursome with Ron, Joe and Tim this morning as being members, and plenty of placement tips. (Hitting them was another thing). Shooting 41/39 w/31putts, friendly players and the ideal conditions will have teeing it up here again.
