"Larry and I were playing a “friendly"" game of golf. Larry shanked his drive on the 3rd hole which is set back of the golf cart parking area by about 30 yards. Larry""s ball hits his golf cart, and rebounds into the fairway and lands almost 200 yards from the tee in the middle of the fairway. Larry of course says something glib like, “you have to play the entire course and understand rebounds to play golf well. ""I of course said something like, ""I think you may have to add a penalty stroke to your score."" This is when the game became a bit less friendly.
What is the correct penalty, if any?"
