Decatur Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course conveniently located in beautiful southeast Decatur, Alabama, close to residential areas and a very short drive from the residential, commercial and industrial areas of Decatur, Hartselle, and Madison.

This member-owned private golf and country club was established in 1923. Membership is by invitation only from one of our current members. The course was rebuilt in 1994 and is defined by fast, bent grass greens with subtle, hard to read breaks. The narrow Bermuda fairways and Bermuda rough considerably increase the difficulty of our golf course. The 1994 redesign was the work of Gary Baird.

The course is relatively flat and lends itself to easy walking for golfers of all ages. The course is short by today's standards and does not offer a multitude of rewards to the purely long ball hitter, although the length is very important on certain holes. The course does force the golfer to be accurate and to fully develop their short game to be successful. Rounds are easily completed in 3 1/2 to 4 hours, even on weekends.

Red tees: par-71, 4,893 yards, 68.6 / 123

The course closed in May, 2017.

Cook’s Pest Control purchased the course for a reported $3.7 million. Cooks plans to make the golf course the site of its new corporate headquarters, a project that will likely take “several years” to complete. Under the deal, the clubhouse, swimming pool and tennis courts would continue to operate during the transition.

Decatur Country Club closed May 7, 2017.

The course closed, but the new buyers intend to use the clubhouse, pool, and tennis courts as a social club.
