Detailed description

The Squires Golf Club, The is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Port Washington, Wisconsin.

The course opened for play in 1930 with 9 holes. The course was designed by Clarence St. Peter. It was expanded to an 18-hole course in the early 1970s and renamed the Squires.

The Squires Golf Club golf course is well manicured and borders the shores of Lake Michigan. The environment is park-like because of all the mature trees. Water hazards come into play on eight holes.

Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 5,790 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,067 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 5, a par-5 that plays to 535 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 9, a par-3 that plays to 125 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 5, the 535 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 11, a 192 yard par-3.

The Squires Golf Club closed in 2008

On the Squires Club's former golf course clubhouse, photos of chimney swifts and nighthawks have replaced advertisements for Big Bertha and Callaway drivers. This is now the headquarters and library of the Western Great Lakes Bird and Bat Observatory, a small nonprofit birders’ group%u200B that purchased the land when the course closed in 2008.
