The Nakoma golf course first opened for play in 1925, making it one of the oldest and most beautiful courses in the city. The course was designed by Tom Bendelow. The Nakoma Golf Club dates to 1944. The course has been redeisgned / updated from its' 1925 configuration by Arthur Hills.

The University of Wisconsin's Arboretum bordered the course and provides a fascinating and diverse backdrop. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. Greens and fairways are bent grass.
