Canaan Valley Golf Course & Resort
Canaan Valley Golf Course first opened for play in 1968. The course was designed by Geoffrey Cornish.
Canaan Valley Golf Course & Resort is perched on the northern edge of the Monongahela National Forest, 3,200 feet above sea level. The area boasts more than 6,000 acres of woodlands, meadows, hills, and streams. Framed by the spectacular Allegheny Mountains, the course is surrounded by breathtaking West Virginia countryside. The course offers groomed fairways and lush greens with 65 sand bunkers and eight holes, with water hazards. This state park resort has hosted the West Virginia State Open as well as the West Virginia Ladies' Amateur Tournaments.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6984 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5820 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 573 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 6, a par-3 that plays to 194 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 9, the 573 yard par-5 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Canaan Valley Golf Course is # 6, a 194 yard par-3.
The course is open April through early November. The practice facility includes a driving range, putting green, sand bunker and chipping green.
