Detailed description

Elks Ridge Golf Course at Carson Hot Springs Resort is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located near the Western edge of the Columbia River Gorge in Carson, Washington, an hour east of Portland.

The course first opened for play in 1990. Russell Sheehan redesigned the course in 2006. Shorty thereafter, the course was closed due to inability to pay depts.

Elk Ridge Golf Course, formerly Carson Hot Springs Golf Course, reopened in September 2012 after a multi-year closure that began in 2006 following foreclosure.

The location provides breathtaking views of Dog Mountain and the Columbia Gorge. The course plays to a par 71. There are five sets of tees, stretching from 6,461 yards from the tips to 4,442 yards from the forward tees. The layout boasts 40 intimidating bunkers, a mixture of plateau like holes, along with some steeper climbs and descents throughout. Because of its exposed hillside location wind can be a dominant. The course's setting on a sloping mountainside made up of steep rock makes it one of the Valley's best drained courses.

The course design includes a large double green shared by the hole # 8 and 10.. While most holes play parallel to the slope, making for slight uphill and downhill holes, nos. 9 and 18 both play sharply downhill toward the clubhouse.

This area is known for its natural beauty, as well as its mineral hot springs water. Carson Valley Hot Springs Resort and Bonneville Hot Springs Resort & Spa are two area hotels that make for pleasant stay-and-play options near the golf course.
