Detailed description

Black Jacks Crossing Golf Course is a resort 18-hole golf course located at Lajitas Golf Resort in Lajitas, Texas.

The original resort course, The Ambush, opened in 2002 but was destroyed by a 100 year flooding event in 2007. The new course, Black Jacks Crossing Golf Course, was routed on higher ground and opened for play in 2012. Black Jacks was designed by PGA Hall of Fame golfer, Lanny Wadkins.

The course also has been named the number-one "Best Golf Course You Can Play in Texas" by the Dallas Morning News, number-one "Most Beautiful Course in Texas" by Golf Magazine and the number-four "Best Course You Can Play in Texas" by Golfweek.

The course gets its name from General, "Black Jack" Pershing who pursued Pancho Villa across the Rio Grande. The course combines the historical features of the land with the stunning setting of Big Bend National Park. Several breathtaking mountain holes set against spectacular mountain vistas and coupled with views of the Rio Grande make this course memorable.

The course measures just over 7,400 yards long from the back tees and is a challenge to the best of players. There are also 3 shorter tees, the shortest measuring just over 5,000 yards making the course pleasurable for everyone. The fairways are generous but sometimes seem small due to the 180 feet tee to green elevation changes. The greens are medium in size but tricky and fast with great undulation.
