Detailed description of Northgate Country Club

Northgate Country Club is a Private, 27 hole golf facility located in Houston, Texas. Northgate Country Club has three 9-hole golf courses. These courses can be combined in pairs to form three different 18 hole course challenges. The nine-hole courses are The Creek Course, The Bunkers Course, and The Bridges Course.

Northgate Country Club opened its first 18-holes in 1984. The 3rd nine was added in 1998. The courses were designed by Bruce Devlin, Robert von Hagge

The Bridges Course is the newest nine hole design, offering fast, undulating Floradwarf greens and fairly wide fairways. The layout of this course creates a multitude of situations where golfers must decide on whether to play in a risky manner or to make conservative, safer shots. One of the best holes on the Bridges Course is #3, a 427-yard, par 4, featuring a three-level fairway that hides the green from the first level, the water hazard protecting the green on the second level, and then finally allows golfers to see the entire layout of the hole's finish from the third level.

The Creek Course is not as long as the Bridges, but it is narrower and has more water coming into play. The signature hole on the Creek is #8, a 208-yard, par 3, incorporating an elevated tee box, a creek that runs along the right side and a green with a ridge in the middle and sand bunkers protecting the right and left sides.

The Bunkers Course lives up to its name by including many sand hazards into the design. Hole #1, a 417-yard, par 4, is considered the toughest starting hole in Texas. The tee shot must avoid a large sand bunker without carrying over the bunker because this will put the ball in a lake. Even if the tee shot stays away from these initial hazards, the second shot must still be carried 175 to 200 yards over water.

The club hosted the Independent Insurance Agents Junior Classic in 1999, which is an invitational tournament for the top 180 junior golfers in the nation. Past participants have included many well known tour professionals, including Tiger Woods.

Northgate Country Club and Daniel McIntyre hired my company to perform services on their property last year after Hurricane Harvey. When we were hired we were told we needed to complete the job as quickly as possible because the Club had a full schedule of weddings and member events for the fall. To help Northgate and its members and clients keep an uninterrupted event schedule, we rushed all of our available employees and equipment to the site at their request. We serviced all of their buildings and made them clean and safe for all of the events they held that season as they requested. Neither Mr. McIntyre or the Club management complained or let us know they were dissatisfied with the services we provided. After the work was completed, Mr. McIntyre signed a job completion form that stated the work was done to his satisfaction. However, nearly a year after Harvey, we still have not received any payment for the work we performed. The Club has had many events in the spaces we worked on, but has continued to refuse to pay us even $1 for the work we performed at their behest, to make sure their clients were able to have the kind of events they deserve.

I recently joined Northgate Country Club. The course has 27 holes, Bunkers, Bridges and Creek and was designed by Von Hagge. If you are familiar with his designs, you will know that this means from the tips the challenge will be all you can ask for and the quality of golf is top notch. There are enough tee positions that the course has the appropriate level of golf for all players. There are contour and elevation changes, plenty of water hazards along with a plethora of bunkers to provide you with all of the obstacles needed to protect par from being easily attained. Course conditions are always very good. The pro shop is well stocked and full of friendly staff to help you with whatever your golf needs are. There is a nice driving range and three putting greens/practice areas. There are a variety of food and beverage options. And the membership is very friendly. There is a very nice tennis facility with it's own clubhouse. And a large pool complex behind the main clubhouse and dining facilities. If you have opportunity to get out and play here, take it. You will surely enjoy yourself with a day at Northgate.0
