Rio Colorado Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Bay City, Texas.
First opened for play in 1993, the course was designed by Gary Player.
Rio Colorado overlooks the eastern Colorado River. Water comes into play on some holes. The course has two distinctly different nines. The front nine is a prairie-links style. It has few trees and the coastal winds pose a threat to accurate shots. The back nine (Holes 12-18) has a rest of oaks and cottonwoods that block the wind.
Water comes into play on 16 holes.
#14, a 328 yard, par-4 is the signature hole. It sits on the scenic bluff overlooking the Colorado River.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,855 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,079 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 557 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 6, a par-3 that plays to 175 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 5, a 456-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Rio Colorado Golf Course is # 10, a 553 yard par-5.
$21 (cart included), played on Saturday, October 2007 at 8am
Links style course with high winds... rained the day we played but after about 1/2 hour delay we took right up where we left off. Railroad runs through middle of course (can be delays waiting for the train) Course was in great shape, especially since it had a ton of rain in weeks just prior to us playing there.
