Detailed description

Royal Oaks Country Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf facility located in Maryville, Tennessee.

The course at one time had three nine-hole segments, all designed by D. J. DeVictor. The original Beauty Nine Course opened in 1993. The facility expanded to 27 holes in 1997 with the addition of the Beast East and West Nines. Today the course retains 18 holes.

The course rests in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. The layout has numerous water hazards as well as over 20 sand bunkers.

Black tees: par-72, 6,811 yards, 72.1 / 124
Blue tees: par-72, 6,329 yards, 69.1 / 115
White tees: par-72, 6,091 yards, 66.2 / 109
Gold tees: par-72, 5,369 yards, 65.8 / 105
Red tees: par-71, 4,457 yards, 63.5 / 102

The course closed on Saturday, December 1, 2018.

The owners have hired Knoxville-based Alley Realty and Auction to sell the golf course and its assets, which include the events center.

Company President David Alley Jr. said the first goal is to find someone who will realign the course and start it over again (wink, wink), though the 120 acres are more fundamentally adapted for new subdivisions.

That so much land is becoming available is a unique situation, Alley said. He likened it to New York’s Central Park all of a sudden becoming available for sale. There are approximately 500 homes in the Royal Oaks subdivision now. Alley estimated that anywhere from 400-600 homes could be added.
