Detailed description
Cassique Golf Course At Kiawah Island Club, The, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Kiawah Island, South Carolina

The Cassique Golf Course At Kiawah Island Club first opened for play in 2000. The golf course was designed by Tom Watson. Watson's walkable design recalls the links courses of Scotland and Ireland where he dominated the game. Like those classic seaside settings, Cassique offers little protection from ocean winds, so Watson fashioned holes that could be played in numerous ways depending upon the conditions and the creativity of the golfer.

This oceanside facility is separated from the Atlantic by a few sand dunes, and the prevailing winds are a key factor in play on every hole. The front nine is constructed on former farmland, which was heavily sculpted to recreate the many dunes that originally occupied the landscape. This course was designed with walking in mind. Caddies are available for members and required for guest play. Cassique is a par 72 championship track, plays from 5,060 to 6,960-yards, and there are five sets of tees to challenge a variety of handicaps.

Named for the Kiawah Indian chief who once hunted these lands, Cassique's layout ranges over former agricultural fields, through maritime forests, and along marshes where the Kiawah River meets the Atlantic Ocean.
