Detailed description

Country Club of Charleston, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Charleston, South Carolina.

The Country Club of Charleston first opened for play in 1925. The course was designed by Seth Raynor. In 2006, golf course architect Brian Silva was brought in to help restore some of Raynor's original features which had been lost over the years.

This club itself was originally founded in 1786 and has been listed by the USGA as being the oldest golf club in the U.S.

From the back tees, this par 71 course plays at 6,799 yards.

Seth Raynor’s designs often duplicated features from famous Scottish golf courses including the well known “Redan” holes. #11 is a replica of #15 at North Berwick. It is so unforgiving that Sam Snead once carded a 13. Ben Hogan, when asked how he liked the hole, replied that it should be dynamited.

The signature hole is #11, a 187-yard, par 3.
