Detailed description

Sakonnet Golf Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Little Compton, Rhode Island.

Sakonnet Golf Club first opened for play in 1899. The course was designed by Donald Ross. The course has been renovated by Gil Hanse preserving the Donald Ross design.

A unique and charming feature of the course is the rock walls that border several holes. A number of holes play along the ocean and are influenced by the wind. The course has numerous sand bunkers strategically placed throughout its design and water hazards coming into play on five holes. The small greens are fast, and the fairways are narrow.

Par for the course is 69. From the back tees, the course plays to 5,902 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,477 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 11, a par-5 that plays to 488 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 10, a par-3 that plays to 159 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 4, a 404-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 10, a 159 yard par-3.
