Detailed description

Water Gap Country Club, originally named Wolf HollowCountry Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania, one hour from Philidelphia and less than two hours from New York City.

Water Gap Country Club first opened for play in 1923. The course was designed by Robert White.

Wolf Hollow went bankrupt during World War II and was vacant for fifteen years. The golf course was divided and sold off in pieces. A local golf hero, Howard Knickman purchased all the parcels in 1957 and spent the next two years restoring the grounds. He changed the name to Water Gap Country Club and reopened the course.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,237 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,199 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 10, a par-5 that plays to 568 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 4, a par-3 that plays to 120 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 1, a 395 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 17, a 330 yard par-4.

The course takes advantage of the natural features of the Poconos unique terrain and provides a stunning backdrop for golfers.
