Detailed description

Juniper Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 18-hole golf course located in Redmond, Oregon.

Will the real Juniper Golf Club please stand up? Juniper first opened for play on Memorial Day 1952. The course that opened in 1952 was a 3,001-yard, 36 par, nine-hole layout. In 1987 the second nine holes opened for play. Tim Berg, the golf professional at Sunriver, was commissioned to lay out the new 18-hole design which played to a yardage of 6,533 yards and a par of 72.

In 1995 the club learned of plans for a Redmond east-side highway bypass coming through the golf course. Additionally, the club faced the prospect of the Federal Aviation Administration enforcing fair-market lease rates for the golf-course property, resulting in a significant increase in the lease (from $1 per year to more than $300,000). The club was also anticipating a significant investment to upgrade the aging irrigation system.

The Mayor of Redmond, Ed Fitch, and the City of Redmond Public Building Corporation (PBC) President, Ron Bryant, began exploring options. Ultimately, the Federal Recreation Act provided a way to acquire land for a new golf course from the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) located approximately two miles south of the existing golf course.

The Redmond Public Building Corporation (PBC) hired golf course architect John Harbottle, III to design the new 18-hole golf course which plays to a yardage of 7,186 yards and a par of 72. Opening ceremonies for the new Juniper Golf Club golf course were held on July 2, 2005.

The course is nestled on a beautiful piece of land in Redmond Oregon with panoramic views of Mt. Bachelor, Broken Top, the Three Sisters, Mt. Washington, Three-fingered Jack, Mt. Jefferson and Mt. Hood, Juniper challenges you from your first tee shot to your last putt.

Juniper hosted the 2007 Oregon Open and is a repeat US Amateur qualifier site. However, the variety of tees available makes it playable for golfers of all skill levels.

Black Tees: 7,186 yards, 74.0 / 130. Blue tees: 6,653 yards 71.1 / 126. White Tees Men: 6,063 yards 68.3 / 123. White Tees Women: 6,063 yards 74.2 / 135. Red Tees: 5,500 yards, 70.7 / 128.
