Detailed description

Guelph Country Club is an 9 hole semi-private golf course located in Guelph, Ontario. Originally a private, members only course, in 1998 they allowed public access while still continuing the tradition of family and membership.

The course first opened for play in 1912.

A nursery was started in 1935, planting 6700 trees. In 1943, Willow trees were planted between the 1st and 2nd fairway, and 9500 seedlings were planted in 1946. The legacy of these plantings is visible today with the countless mature, majestic, towering pines and blue spruce, and the magnificent fall colors that can be enjoyed across the entire course.

This relatively short course is hilly and heavily treed thanks to the plantings decades ago. The greens are small and with hidden breaks. The fairways are fairly wide and tree lined.

The signature hole is #7, a 170-yard, par 3, requiring a shot from an elevated tee to a small green, which is fully encircled by pine trees.

There are additional sets of tees that can be used when playing a double loop eighteen hole round.
