Detailed description

Reems Creek Golf Course is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Weaverville, North Carolina.

Reems Creek Golf Course first opened for play in 1989. The course was designed by Martin and Fred Hawtree. Hawtree & Sons is a British firm. They sculpted a layout reminiscent of the look and feel of the Scottish Highlands.

The course sits on hilly terrain. The very scenic layout is surrounded by several lakes, expect water hazards on a number of holes. Because of the hilly terrain, golf carts are mandatory.

#5, a short par-4 (348 yards from the back and 251 from the front) has a large lake on the left along the fairway and another one in front of the green. The tee shot requires precision over power and most players will have to cross water two times to complete the hole.

#9, a challenging par-5 that plays to 532 yards from the back tees. Players hit their drive toward a plateau about 200 yards down the fairway. Most players will lay up on the downhill second shot, but long hitters can reach the green from there but they need to respect the bunkers fronting the green.

#16 is a par-4 that plays to 358 yards. There is a pond to carry off the tee and a second lake to negotiate 220 yards down the fairway. A well-placed drive of about 200 to 210 yards must be executed to avoid both water hazards. The second shot is over the lake to a two-tiered green.

#18 is another great par-5, measuring 522 yards from the back tees. Watch out for the lake off to the left as you lay-up down to the fairway.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,492 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,605 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 542 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 6, a par-3 that plays to 155 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 440 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 11, a 180 yard par-3.
