About Brunswick Plantation & Golf Links

Brunswick Plantation & Golf Links is a Semi-Private, 27 hole golf facility located in Calabash, North Carolina.

Brunswick Plantation has three 9 hole golf courses. The Azalea, Dogwood, and Magnolia.

The courses at Brunswick Plantation opened for play in 1991. They were designed by Willard Byrd & Clyde Johnston.

The Magnolia Golf Course is reminiscent of the links of Scotland. The water holes test your skill, and the heavily mounded and bunkered holes are tough but reachable.

The Azalea Golf Course is carved from thick, Carolina woodlands, offering a beautiful and serene setting. The island green signature hole is surrounded by oyster shells and is sure to be a challenge

The Dogwood Golf Course meanders along the waters of the Caw Caw Run among hardwood trees. The wide-open design presents scenic landscapes and allows each golfer the opportunity to hit every club in the bag.

They had a lot of rain recently, which accounted for the untypical conditions on the course. However, they exacerbated the conditions by not pumping out the sand traps. They also may have cut the fairways too short. The greens were in very good condition.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area

Played here Memorial Day 2013 for the first time. Rate through my hotel was $48, which is excellent for a course of this quality.

I played Azalea-Magnolia, and was very pleased with the layout and conditions...and it even smelled good, with all of the magnoliaas in blossom! Many of these Carolina courses look a lot alike, and this one is no exception, but having said that, Brunswick is very nicely maintained, and that complements the mature design. There are a couple of holes that get a bit close to the housing, but most have reasonable buffer distances. Conditions today were very good: greens were very firm (hardly possible to leave a ball mark), but they putted fairly slowly...not sure how that works, exactly. Also, a few greens have some burned spots, which does not bode well for the coming hot months. Staff was uniformly excellent: very pleasant, and pleased to have the business.

Residents/locals pay about $35 to play here, and that's a real bargain. I highly recommend!

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Challenging layout. Some housing too close on a few holes

Incredibly beautiful place. Homes, whole layout of development and course are sensational. But what happened to the conditioning of this course? This is now one of the worst conditioned courses on Grand Strand. The greens are spotty and many of the tee boxes appear not to have been cut in ages. The rangers do nothing to speed up pace of play.. our game took almost 5 hours and 30 minutes. This course was closed for many months last year to install new putting surfaces. What a waste. It is high season and they have lost their greens. I can understand that happening and forgive it. But what is the excuse for letting grass grow ankle high on tee boxes?

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Better courses for less nearby, Worse than average course for the area
