Detailed description

Sag Harbor Golf Club is a Public, 9 hole golf course located in Sag Harbor, New York. The course sits on a peninsula and surrounded by woodlands, bluffs, and wetlands. The course is located in the middle of a 341-acre parcel known as the Barcelona Neck Natural Resources Management

The course first opened in 1898 and was run by a group of volunteers for over half a century. The property was acquired by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in 1989. The course was taken over by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in 1997.

Sag Harbor's allure lies in its simplicity and lack of frills. No tee-times exist, it’s a first come, first served course.

Par for the course is 35. The course plays to 2,661 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 7, a par-5 that plays to 404 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 3, a par-3 that plays to 145 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 6, a 349-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Sag Harbor Golf Course is # 7, the short 404 yard par-4.

#6 challenges with an extreme dog-leg right and a tree in the middle of the fairway. The downhill approach has a collection area at the foot of the slope leaving a chip shot to the green.

The scorecard shows #7 to be the easiest hole and being a par-5 measuring only 404 yards, it would be easy to believe the scorecard. But the small green and the often windy conditions makes this hole more difficult than many of the others. Be forewarned.
