Detailed description

The Westchester Country Club (or Westchester Biltmore Country Club) was founded by John McEntee Bowman, who hired Walter Travis to design two golf courses in Rye, New York as amenities for his luxury resort hotel.

The West and South Courses opened in 1922.

The South Course was originally designed for women and higher handicap golfers. The South Course was reconstructed in 2000 by Ken Dye with longer tees, new sand and grass bunkers, water hazards, and some new greens. The South Course is now more competitive with the West Course to accommodate low handicap golfers.

The South Course measures 6,566 yards from the blue tees and has one of the best sets of par-3's (five in total) of any course in the Metropolitan area.

The South Course retains similar styling and care as its West Course big brother and offers an experience that appeals to a broad range of golfers.
