Detailed description

Rye Golf Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Rye, New York.

The Rye Golf Club golf course first opened for play in 1921. Devereaux Emmet designed the Par-71 course.

The 126-acre facility is a member-only club owned by the City of Rye. The club offers a short yet challenging 18-hole golf course with spectacular water views of Long Island Sound.

The Rye Golf Club golf course is the only course in Westchester where you can hit a ball into Long Island Sound. Hole #12, a 315-yard par-four brings the sound into play if you are a big hitter and go for the green. Hole #17, a par three with a small green and windy conditions, gives you a final chance for a "Sound" shot.

Rye Golf Course plays to 6,295 yards for a course rating of 70.3 and a slope rating of 123.

You don't have to be a member to dine at the co-located Whitby Castle.

Whitby Castle was built in 1852 as a private residence for Mr. William Chapman. In 1886, the Chapman's sold the house to the Park family of Rye, who lived there for 25 years. In 1921, the 40 acres of the original property were combined with the adjoining Allen Estate and became Rye Country Club, later sold and renamed Rye Wood Country Club. In 1965, the City of Rye purchased the property to be renamed Rye Golf Club as it is known today.

Whitby Castle is open to the public. The interior boasts restaurants with intimate dining rooms, a beautifully appointed bar, reception space, a bridal suite, and elegant ballrooms.
