Detailed description

Olde Post Road Golf Club, previously named Evergreen Country Club, The Private Course, is a public 18-hole golf course located in Castleton On Hudson, New York.

Until 2021, Evergreen Country Club was a 36-hole golf facility. The facility has two 18-hole golf courses named Evergreen Country Club Course, The Private Course, and Evergreen Country Club Course, The Public Course. Located on 320 rolling acres in Castleton on the Hudson in Rensselaer County. EverGreen is geared for the leisure enthusiast.

Both courses were parkland style with tree-lined fairways with elevation change, water on a number of holes, and moderate use of bunkers. Most of the holes were straightforward, but there were a few doglegs and placement shots required.

The Private Course ____________________________

Evergreen Country Club Course, The Private Course, opened in 1962. The course was designed by Warren Davis. Although called the Private Course, it was open for public play.

The Private Course was 7,244 yards, par-72 from the championship tees, The course rating was 73.5 and it had a slope rating of 131. #14 was the signature hole with an island green.

The Public Course ____________________________

Evergreen Country Club Course, The Public Course opened in 1960. The Public Course was designed by Eddie VanKaempin

The Public Course was a little shorter at 6001 yards, par 70, and a 110 slope. The course rating was 68.0 and it had a slope rating of 111.

In 2021, both courses closed. The Public Course remains closed and The "Private" Course was remodeled and reopened in the summer of 2022 and renamed Olde Post Road Golf Club.

The Olde Post Road Golf Club is led by Golf Entrepreneur and CIA Graduate Chef Thomas Choquette.  After successfully building Burden Lake Country Club, Tom has embarked on refurbishing the Evergreen Country Club and creating the Olde Post Road Golf Club and Banquet Facility.

Major changes were, and are still, being made to the old Evergreen layout. The 2nd hole has been reshaped with a new green. The 6th green has moved to the left to create better sunlight. The region’s only “Island Green” has been rehabbed to its original glory!

Construction is being done by Chuck Baltzel. Chuck designed and built the back nine at Burden Lake Country Club in 1999 and has already begun fixing irrigation, cleaning debris, brush, and rebuilding tee boxes.
