About Silo Ridge Country Club, CLOSED 2011, To reopen 2016

Silo Ridge Country Club, previously named Island Green Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Amenia, New York.

The course opened in 1992 and was the design work of Al Zikorus.

This very picturesque course is located on the foothills of a mountain. The fairways are wide open because they are lined by young trees, and the medium-sized greens are slow. Water hazards come into play on four holes.

Par for Silo Ridge is 72. The Blue tees play to 6,763 yards, White play to 6,286 yards, and Reds are set at 5,505 yards.

The course clsed in 2011.

2015 update for Silo Ridge Country Club.

Silo Ridge, has been closed for four years. In early 2015 they announced that a deal with Discovery Land Company of Scottsdale, Arizona for the development of the golf course and the adjoining land into a resort community has been made.  The plan calls for a 20 room lodge, 246 vacation residential properties and, according to the press release, a “world class Tom Fazio-designed golf course that will completely replace the existing golf course.” A phone call on 8/29/2015 with course principals disclosed that the course will re-open in 2016 and will be a private course.

The course is fairly open and most greens are accessible. The surrounding beauty cannot be matched, especially in the fall. They offer good weekday packages that include lunch. Their signature hole (almost an island green) is outstanding. There is even a dinosaur fossil in the rocks at one tee box.

A very nice place to play golf.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Ranks with the best in this price level, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Challenging course especially from the blue tees. Fair amount of hills and slopes. Very well maintained. Fairways, traps and greens are in excellent shape. Has a semi island par 3 with water on 3 sides. First class clubhouse, restaurant and patios overlooking the course. Tee times can be made on line.

Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
