Detailed description

Plattsmouth Country Club is a Semi-Private, 9 hole golf course located in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.

60 acres of farmland was purchased from Plattsmouth resident Ray Larson for $131 per acre.  40 acres were used to build the original nine-hole course which opened in 1960.

The original 2,000-yard layout featured oil and sand greens. In the 1970's the sand greens were replaced with grass greens. The renovation project included the installation of an irrigation system in addition to the nine grass greens. Workers finished the new 3,100-yard course layout in 1976.

Par for the course is 36. From the back tees, the course plays to 3,079 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 2,543 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 5, a par-5 that plays to 593 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 9, a par-3 that plays to 168 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 4, a 355 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 7, a 356 yard par-4.

Hole #4 is the signature hole and is the most scenic. It too is severely sloping and requires your second shot to be through a shoot of trees.

Hole #8 is also a signature hole - your second shot must go above or below a 75-ft spruce tree to get to the uphill green.

Course closed 2015

The course has been sold and repurposed as a farm that grows hops.

In early 2015 Plattsmouth Country Club members voted to sell the 60-acre property along Highway 75 to Bruce and Annette Wiles for $550,000. Members donated approximately $250,000 to the Plattsmouth Activities Complex for Kids (PACK) project at Plattsmouth High School. The remaining amount was used to pay off loans and other expenses.
