Detailed description

Sedalia Country Club is a Private 18 hole golf course located in Sedalia, Missouri.

The Sedalia Country Club was formed June 3, 1905. In 1906 the Club purchased a block of ground adjoining the State Fair Grounds on the east and facing Limit Avenue. On March 22, 1906, the Sedalia Country Club became a corporation. A club house was built costing $4,200.00, which was completed and opened in June 1906. The regular membership had grown to eighty-eight.

In 1907, a sixty acre tract was purchased for $6,000.00 and a nine hole golf course was laid out. A formal reception and dinner was given in honor of President Taft in 1911at The Sedalia Country Club.

The old club was remodeled and redecorated several times over the next half century, however on May 4, 1977 a tornado destroyed the clubhouse, swimming pool, tennis courts and other club facilities that were located on South Limit Avenue. In July, the proposal of the purchase of Walnut Hills Country Club was passed. The Walnut Hills Country Club was "rented" by the Sedalia Country Club during the months of June and July, at the cost of $4,000.00 per month so members could have use of their facilities.

On August 22, 1977, the Sedalia Country Club purchased Walnut Hills Country Club.

The course dates to 1963 and was originally The Walnut Hills Country Club Golf Course. The course was designed by Roger Packard.

This challenging traditional parkland style layout has water hazards, a ditch, and a ravine all coming into play. The large greens are fast, hold well and are slightly sloped. The fairways were built on gently rolling hills, so expect many uneven lies. In addition, the fairways are bordered by a standard cut of rough.

Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6,194 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,935 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-5 that plays to 520 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 154 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 398 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. # 17, a 160 yard par-3 is the easiest hole.
