La Plata Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in La Plata, Missouri.
The course first opened for play in 1933. It was expanded from 9 holes to 18 holes in 2001.
The course, now plays to 6,147 yards from the blue (championship) tees. The Front nine is very mature with thick trees, narrow fairways, and lots of doglegs. The front-9 features fairways lined with mature trees. The terrain is rolling and the greens, including some that are elevated, are in excellent shape. The back nine is wide open with few trees, but with water on almost every hole.
$10 (cart included), played on Tuesday, July 2006 at 10am
LaPlata is now an 18 hole course. The back nine has several ponds that make it tougher for the average golfer to play par golf. But with the ponds the back nine is shorter in distance than the front nine. The front nine is just about the prettiest course around. They play well and the course is well maintained. It is nice to have an affordable course in a town so close to a college like Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.
