Detailed description
Timberton Golf Club, The McCumber Course, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Timberton Golf Club, The McCumber Course first opened for play in 1991. The course was designed by Mark McCumber,

Timberton Golf Club, The McCumber Course, consists of the Creekside Nine and the Valley Nine. In 1998 a third nine, the Lakeview Nine was added making Timberton Golf Club a 27-hole facility. The Lakeview Nine was closed in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The original hilly, yet open Creekside and Valley courses (The McCumber Course), have water hazards coming into play on twelve holes. Many large trees are scattered about the course and can alter your shots. In addition to all the water, there are fifty-four bunkers incorporated into the course design, including ten on one hole.

Timberton Golf Club is a 4 1/2 star rated golf course and is the leader in championship golf in South Mississippi. Since opening in July of 1991, Timberton Golf Club has consistently been recognized by all of golf's most respected publications. In GolfWeek's 2011 "Best of the States" issue, Timberton was again ranked among Mississippi's top ten golf courses. In the April 2011 issue of the Mississippi Business Journal, readers chose their favorite places to play and Timberton was ranked #3 in the state. Timberton has been the host course for PGA Tour Qualifying, The PGA CPC Southern Championship, The Mississippi State Open, (2) Mississippi Men’s Amateurs, (7) MGA State Four-Ball Championships and numerous USGA & PGA qualifying events.
