Detailed description

Fort Ridgely State Park Golf Course is a Public 18 holes golf course located in Fairfax, Minnesota.

Fort Ridgely State Park Golf Course first opened for play in 1927.

The course set on terrain with elevation changes. One of the holes is known as "heart attack hill." Did I mention, there are no riding golf carts, this is a walking only course. There are no sand bunkers or water hazards.

Par for the course is 35. From the back tees, the course plays to 2,881 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 2,670 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 5, a par-5 that plays to 457 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 4, a par-3 that plays to 176 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 7, a 349-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. Another challenging hole is #5, a 457-yard, par 5, which features a ninety-degree dogleg left fairway. The easiest hole is # 9, a 309 yard par-4.

The course closed in 2016. Since the announcement to close the course, there has been some citizens who have lobbied for the course to reopen in 2017, but with operating expenses of about $150,000 per year and revenues of about $25,000 a year, it is unlikely that the course will reopen.
