Detailed description

Forest Dunes Golf Club is a public 36-hole golf facility located in Roscommon, Michigan. The facility has two championship golf courses. They are the Weiskopf Course and The Loop.

The Weiskopf Course at Forest Dunes Golf Club first opened for play in 2002. The course was designed by Tom Weiskopf.

The Weiskopf Course is a tale of two nines. Half the holes play through dense stands of pines of the Huron National Forest; the other half over terrain marked by exposed glacial sands, huge waste bunkers, and scruffy undergrowth.

For being an inland golf course, the terrain is unusually sandy and barren, which makes it very suitable for golf. Most of Forest Dunes Golf Club's front nine plays through a forest while the majority of the back side plays through dunes, though each nine has a couple holes of the other's environment.

The layout that rolls over dunes and through pine forests but plays like a classic, open British link. Strategic decisions abound, such as those on the double-fairway par-4 10th, the par-4 17th, and the peninsula green par-5 18th.

There's also a 19th hole (I just can't get enough, need one more hole) at The Weiskopf Course It's a short par 3 over water to a green with a bunker in the middle.

The Weiskopf Course is a par-72 design that plays to 7,104 yards from the back tees.
