Detailed description
Medalist Golf Club, The, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Marshall, Michigan.

The Medalist Golf Club first opened for play in 1998. the course was designed by Bill Newcomb.

The first three holes are relatively open; just grip it and rip it. They are very good warm up holes.

#4 through #13 are tougher with lots of tests around every corner, including carries over marsh and wetlands. Starting with #14, you'll find five great finishing holes that allow you to get aggressive and score.

#4 is a double dogleg par-5 (568 yards from the back tees and 452 yards from the front tees) that starts out with a bang, requiring a blind tee shot over a hill. Your second shot includes a carry over wetlands. You hit into an undulating green with a bunker front left.

#7 is the signature hole. It's a par-3 (172 yards from the back and 123 yards from the front). On #7 you need to hit your tee shot either on to the green or into a bunker on the right side. The right and left are flanked by wetlands. If you miss the green or the bunker, you're in the wetlands. But the hole is pretty!

#9 is a risky par-5 (565 yards from the back and 419 yards from the front). There's a small pond on the left side and long hitters might be able to drive over it. Most golfers should to lay up short of the water. From 100 to 60 yards from the green, there's another pond to carry on the left-hand side about 100 yards from the green. You have a choice of playing safe by laying up requiring 3 shots to the green, or you can be agressive which brings the ponds into play.

#11 is toughest par-4 on the course (426 yards from the back and 277 from the front tees). From the back you have to carry 215 yards off the tee to get over the wetlands. The green is three-tiered green and about 15 yards wide. If you're above the pin and you have to putt back to the hole, the green won't hold your ball. You're going to roll off. So stay below the pin.

#16 is a fairly short par-4 (350 yards from the back and 301 from the forward tees) with a double fairway.

#17 is a tricky par-3 (176 yards from the back and 91 yards from the forward tees). You have to get to the green off the tee. The hole plays a club longer than you think because you're hitting uphill into a shallow green. If you come up short, your ball can bounce back into a swamp.

#18, a par-4, is a grand finish for this round (403 yards from the back and 316 from the front tees). The green is bordered by a pond on the left-hand side. It's a beautiful sight – the pond, the green and the clubhouse in the distance. But stay alert and stay out of trouble.
