Detailed description

Thornapple Creek Golf Club is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Thornapple Creek Golf Club first opened for play in 1981. The course was designed by Mike Shields.

The Thornapple Creek Golf Club golf course's greens are some of the largest and most difficult in the area. The tree-lined fairways are in great shape. Water hazards come into play on nine holes. Thornapple Creek is as enjoyable to look at as it is to play. With no commercial distraction in sight, this is one of the most secluded courses you'll find in lower Michigan, allowing you to enjoy nature and the game.

The Thornapple Creek Golf Club facility plays to a par-72 and maximum distance of 6,595 yards for a course rating of 72.2, and it has a slope rating of 132. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,595 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,926 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 13, a par-5 that plays to 593 Yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 3, a par-3 that plays to 136 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 4, a 525 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 18, a 362 yard par-4.

Blue 6595 72.2/132

White 6122 70.0/126

The course closed November 5, 2017.

Thornapple Creek Golf Course will close permanently at the end of the season and be converted for private use by the Daniel Scheffers family.

The 194-acre property opened in 1981 by businessmen who were later linked to a multimillion-dollar marijuana trafficking network, which resulted in the U.S. Department of Justice seizing the course in 1986 and a year later sold it at auction. Operating under the 1984 Comprehensive Crime Control Act, the government confiscated the course on the grounds that it was purchased with profits from racketeering and drug sales.
