Detailed description

Chestnut Valley Golf Course is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Harbor Springs, Michigan.

The course opened for play in 1994 and designed by architect Larry Mancour.

Chestnut Valley Golf Course is named after the American Chestnut Tree and is home to one of the few remaining American Chestnut Trees in the nation. The tree, found between holes 10 and 11, is estimated to be around 125 years old. Though the tree is not as strong as it once was, the course is trying to preserve its namesake and a beloved part of this community.

The fairways are tree lined on the front nine, and the somewhat open back nine was built on rolling terrain. The average-sized greens vary in undulation. Water hazards (ponds) come into play on two holes. The signature hole is the bonus #19th hole, a 135-yard, par 3, which is used by the club as a playoff and tie breaker hole during tournaments.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,506 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,166 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 8, a par-5 that plays to 540 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 135 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 5, a 397 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 11, a 135 yard par-3
