Detailed description

Wentworth Hills Golf & Country Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Plainville, Massachusetts, north of Providence, Rhode Island.

Wentworth Hills Golf & Country Club's front 9 opened for play June 2001, and the back 9 opened August 2002. The course was designed by Howard Maurer.

The layout has a number of forced-carries - water comes into play on at least 6 of the front 9 holes. Designed in the parkland style, the rolling tree-lined fairways lead up to undulating greens that are large (averaging 5,500-6,000 square feet) and fast. A series of multiple tees are available to accommodate all skill levels, and the strategic placement of certain tees will help golfers of all handicaps. Bunkers have been placed to encourage the good golfer to "go for it" while allowing the higher handicapper an alternate route. The course designer has also tried to visually entice the golfer to think their way around the course.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6310 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4826 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 508 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 2, a par-3 that plays to 146 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 2, a 146 yard par-3 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Wentworth Hills is # 17, a 160 yard par-3.
