Hillendale Country Club is a Private 18 holes golf course located in Phoenix,Maryland.
Hillendale Country Club first opened for play in 1954.The course was designed by William and David Gordon. In the 1970's George Fazio added fairway bunkers. In the 1980’s, Tom Clark of Ault and Clark, made improvements to the driving range. Bob Cupp made golf course changes such as the redesign of the 13th hole and the connection ponds on the 5th and 6th holes. Additional improvements in 2009 included new bunkers, forward tee boxes for women and seniors to make the game more enjoyable, tee boxes to challenge the accomplished player, and irrigation system upgrades.
The course has some extremely narrow holes. Most of the greens are small and well bunkered. Water hazards come into play on seven holes.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,748 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,815 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 1, a par-5 that plays to 539 yards. The shortest hole on the course is #15, a par-3 that plays to 172 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 5, a 432-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Hillendale is # 15, the 172 yard par-3.
