Detailed description

Twin Shields Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Dunkirk, Maryland.

Twin Shields Golf Club first opened for play in 1969. The course was designed by twin brothers Ray and Roy Shields.

Twin Shields has typical Southern Maryland rolling terrain with large undulating greens.

Par for the course is 70 from the men's tees and 71 from the forward tees. The course plays to 6,527 yards from the Blue tees and 5,230 yards from the Red tees. The longest hole on the course is # 11, a par-5 that plays to 595 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 12, a par-3 that plays to 150 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 9, a 460 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Twin Shields Golf Club is # 12, the 150 yard par-3.

The course closed on November 1, 2015.

The club has been run by Roy Shields' daughters, Karen and Dianne since he died in 1998.

The course, developed and nurtured by the late Ray and Roy Shields, is being sold to a Calvert County developer who plans 58 homes on the 223 acres.
