Detailed description

Cape Neddick Country Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Ogunquit, Maine.

The course was designed by Donald Ross. It first opened for play in 1919.

In the 1990s, Brian Silva, who played and loved the course as a boy and who won the prestigious Golf World Magazine’s Golf Course Architect of the Year award in 1999 was hred to rework the course. Silva laid out an additional nine holes to replace the part of the original course that could not be maintained after the start of World War II. Silva worked to preserve the Donald Ross style, making use of the earth’s natural contours and laying out simple yet diverse challenges, enjoyable for all classes of golfers. Notable also are the manageable walks from green to tee and the absence of residential development.

Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6,052 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,922 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 3, a par-5 that plays to 592 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 6, a par-3 that plays to 133 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, the 592 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 17, a 308 yard par-4.
