Detailed description

Indiana University Golf Course is a Public, 27 hole golf facility located in Bloomington, Indiana. The facility has an 18-hole Championship Course and a 9-hole Executive Course misnamed The Pat-3 course

The 250-acre property on which the course stands includes a 36-stall driving range, looks like a nature preserve. Unlike many modern courses, there are no housing nor commercial properties disturbing the ambiance.

The Championship Course first opened for play in 1957. Former Indiana coach Jim Soutar designed the championship course with the help of Paul "Pooch" Harrell, former coordinator of the university's athletic facilities.

The Championship Course was built on rolling terrain.  The main hazards on this course are its mature trees.  The fairways vary from narrow to open, and the greens are undulating and medium-sized.

Most of the 18 holes are framed by mature trees that defend the integrity of the course and make par, a usually unattainable challenge.  There are no water hazards or fairway bunkers, mostly because the trees offer sufficient problems for the golfer who expects to be challenged.  The championship course is open to the public year-round (weather permitting).
