Detailed description

Acorns Golf Links, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Waterloo, Illinois.

Acorns Golf Links first opened for play in 1997. Acorns started as a dream of owner, operator, and designer Bill Ebeler.

Acorns Golf Links features both links style and traditional American style holes; each with five tee boxes to suit every golfer's skill level. The course features zoysia fairways that will give you an ideal surface to hit your approach shots onto the green. The course has something for everyone. The only thing you won't find is a house lined fairways.

Black tees: 6,701 yards, course rating 72.3, slope rating 125.

Blue tees: 6,256 yards, course rating 70.2, slope rating 121.

White tees: 5,839 yards, course rating 68.0, slope rating 115.

Yellow tees: 5,497 yards, course rating 66.8, slope rating 110. Men's rating

Yellow tees: 5,497 yards, course rating 72.2, slope rating 129. Women's rating

Red tees: 4,623 yards, course rating 67.0, slope rating 105.

The front nine has American style holes. Most of the zoysia fairways are lined with mature oaks trees. There are many holes that will stand out on the front nine, but the 6th hole and 7th hole are two of the best in the area. On these two holes accuracy and shot positioning is key, which can be said for most of the holes on the front nine. Regulars refer to it as weighing your risk verses the reward. It is the thinking man's or woman's nine.

The back nine features European style links. The links style comes with all the trappings of sand, wind, and water. This makes the back nine the more challenging of the two nines for most golfers. It closes with one of the most talked about holes in the St. Louis area. Everyone has a story about the 18th hole, whether it’s driving the green to beat your partner or being the person that blew that big lead going into 18, it is sure to keep things interesting, but that goes for every hole on the back nine.
