Oakville County Club, the serene and picturesque 9-hole golf course a few miles southeast of Mount Carroll, will not be re-opening in the spring of 2016. It's closing after being in operation for over a half-century.

Sale of Oakville’s acreage and buildings by long-time owner Nancy Woodside of Mount Carroll was finalized in early February.

The 46 acres west of Oakville Road was purchased by the John and Betty Tautz Trusts for $315,000. The parcel includes golf course holes one through six and nine, along with the clubhouse, equipment shed and the home of Nancy and her late husband, Al, located near the sixth hole tee box.

Thirteen acres east of Oakville Road, comprising holes seven and eight, were purchased for $85,000 by Jeff and Patty Lessman, whose residence borders the property.
