Detailed description

Morris Country Club is a Private 18 holes golf course located in Morris, Illinois.

The Morris Country Club golf course opened in 1924 as a nine-hole facility. The course was designed by Rees Jones. The course was renovated in 1970 by John Darrah.

In 1976, the Club purchased an additional 33 for expansion allowing for the construction of an additional nine holes. The new nine was designed and constructed by club members. Four of the holes were finished in 1977, and the remaining holes were ready for play in 1978. The new 18-hole course officially opened in 1979.

The 18 hole layout has narrow, tree-lined fairways. Water hazards come into play on 13 of the 18 holes. Between the water hazards and the small greens, the layout puts a premium on shot-making and short game skills. At just over 6,000 yards, the course is short and very playable, but also a challenge.

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6060 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4872 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 5, a par-5 that plays to 541 Yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 13, a par-3 that plays to 133 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 5, a 541 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 13, a 133 yard par-3.

With a par of 71, course rating of 69.6 and a slope of 120, the course plays differently each day depending on wind and conditions due to the elevation changes and pin locations.
