Detailed description

Joliet Golf Club, originally named Joliet Country Club,  is a semi-private, 18 hole golf course located in Joliet, Illinois.

Joliet Golf Club has been one of Chicagoland’s premier golf courses since 1905 and for the first time in its 114-year history, beginning in 2019, is open to public play.

The course was designed by Tom Bendelow.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,570 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,490 yards and has a par of 74. The longest hole on the course is # 15, a par-5 that plays to 535 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 6, a par-3 that plays to 155 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 425-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Joliet Country Club Golf Course is # 12, a 160 yard par-3.

The course closed on February 4, 2020.

The Joliet Golf Club, which had been the Joliet Country Club for 114 years until last year, announced on February 4th that it is closing.

“The golf course, the restaurant, clubhouse and pro shop will be closed effective immediately,” said a statement issued by attorney David Silverman on behalf of the owners.

There has been speculation that the property will be redeveloped for warehouses.
