About Bacon Park Golf Course

Bacon Park Golf Course is a public, 27 hole golf facility located in Savannah, Georgia. The facility has 3 nine hole course, Cypress/Live Oak/Magnolia that can be combined to form 3 different 18-hole pairings.

Bacon Park Golf Course first opened for play in 1926.The course was designed by Donald Ross. J. Porter Gibson redesigned nine holes and added three others in 1971.  Denis Griffiths and Ron Kirby redesigned the entire course when they added the third nine in 1985.

The Live Oak Course is the longest of the three courses and is best known for its elevated greens. The signature hole on the Live Oak Course is #9, a 581-yard, par 5, that requires two shots over water.

The Cypress Course features water hazards (seven lakes) coming into play on six holes.

The Magnolia Course is a combination of the other two designs, including both elevated greens and water hazards.

The on site Bacon Park Golf School provides instruction for all skill levels.

Bacon Park Golf Course is a 27 hole course. With 3 nine hole courses that you can play in 3 different 18 hole combinations, this course provides plenty of variety. The price is right. No houses on the course is an added bonus.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Donald Ross original design; probably better in summer, as fairways didn't have much grass on them. Some holes were really fun & challenging...others (non-original)left something to be desired.
