The owner of Oak Haven Golf Course, 7359 Thomaston Road, said he closed the course late last month (December 2011) for good because he wasn’t making any money.

Dede Ayal, of Atlanta, who said he paid more than $2 million for the golf course six years ago (2006), said Tuesday “I have no future for it.

“I bought it hoping to help the community ... and for six years, nothing but grief,” he said in a telephone interview.

Ayal, who bought the business as an investment, said golf course managers charged fees too cheap for the 47-year-old course to be profitable.

Ayal said he was angry about how the course was run after investing his money and even angrier because he said he was given false information before he purchased it.

Ayal said when he bought the course he was told it had more than 140 members.

“That was a lie,” he said.

Ayal said the only way Oak Haven would reopen is if someone pays him more than what he paid for it.

In the meantime, “I’m not going to open it,” an angry Ayal said. “It’s going back to agriculture ... I may make it my farm.”
