Rocky Point Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Tampa, Florida.

Rocky Point is a fine public golf course facility conveniently located within 15-minute drive of Tampa International Airport as well as many luxury hotels in the West Shore and Rocky Point areas.

Sand bunkers and water come into play on eleven holes. In fact, the many lakes on the course have become a wildlife habitat as well as a bird sanctuary.

This par 71 course plays to 6,444 yards from the blue tees, 5,936 yards from the white tees and the reds are set at 4,861 yards.

Rocky Point Golf Course traces its history back to 1911 when a course operated by Tampa Automobile Club opened for business on the current site. In 1942 the club was closed down because of World War II. The club became part of Drew Field and barracks were built on the site to hold prisoners of war. In 1953 the Government turned the property over to the City of Tampa for $1.

Rocky Point Golf Course reopened in June of 1954 under a 25 year lease to Curly and Merle Hartman. In December of 1963 a third nine was added. In 1978, after the lease expired the City of Tampa turned over operations to the Tampa Sports Authority.

In December of 1981, the city leased 40 acres of Rocky Point Golf Course to Critikon Corporation for 99 years in return for a 1.2 million dollar redesign. This included the return from 27 holes to 18 holes. The course redesign was done by Ron Garl. The course reopened on March 5, 1983. The new clubhouse was built and opened in July, 1993.
