Tiburon Golf Club, is a Resort, 36 hole golf facility located in Naples, Florida. The facility has two, championship 18-hole golf courses. They are The Gold Course and The Black Course.
Tiburon's two 18-hole championship courses are home to the Shark Shootout, which brings many of the top names in golf to this prestigious golf destination. A favorite of both professional and amateur golfers alike, Tiburon is carved out of 800 acres of native Florida foliage and the courses play like classic links courses. Golf legend and course designer Greg Norman blended traditional and modern elements to create an elegant and stunningly beautiful golf experience that is challenging for any player.
The Gold Course opened for play in 1998. The course is lined with towering pine trees, rolling fairways meander through orange coquina waste areas, sand filled bunkers and countless water features toward devilishly tricky green complexes.
To the delight of those who spray the ball off the tee, there is no grass cut above fairway level. While the absence of rough sounds appealing, it has a dual effect, it's almost more penalizing with no rough because the ball will roll further than if the perimeter areas were lined with thick grasses.
Driving areas are relatively open, but it's still imperative to hit the ball straight. Unlike a poor lie that accompanies wayward tee shots at other tracks, Tiburon will leave a golfer with a lost ball.
