Great River Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Milford, Connecticut.
The golf course at Great River Golf Club first opened for play in 2001. The golf course was designed by Tom Fazio.
Great River Golf Club is an upscale daily-fee public course. In 2005 Great River was named #2 Top Rated Golf Course in the State of Connecticut and ranked #34 on America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses List by Golf Digest Magazine.
The front nine holes weave through wooded terrain, with the back nine exhibiting a links style layout. On the front nine you will travel over one of seven wooden bridges as you approach the third green with its intimidating bunkers. The greens throughout the course vary from long and narrow to wide and shallow. All are large and very fast. Twelve holes involve a water challenge, with six of those bordering the Housatonic River. Proximity to the river creates unusual winds that add complexity to judging your shots. The course is bookmarked on the south by the Housatonic River and on the North by a commuter railroad, creating an uncluttered, unspoiled golf experience.
A thirty-foot waterfall cascades just off the eleventh hole, making it a rewarding and challenging 218 yards. The signature hole is #15, a downhill par 3 with its green resting along the bank of the Housatonic River.
The Great River Golf Club golf course plays to 7,209 yards from the back tees for a course rating of 75.5 and a slope rating of 152. Par for the course is 72.

Excellent course and conditioning. Staff was very nice and welcoming. Food service wonderful. Smooth greens and terrific Fazio layout makes for a great day. This is a great place to bring a client and they will not be disappointed.

Course has a great layout and was in excellent condion from tee to green, The club house and amenities were also excellent. The personnel were all very professional and friendly. I've put this course on my "must play again" list (as often as I can). Could be the best course in Ct. and in top 5 in New England. Seems to get a lot of play so the pace can be slow.
