Detailed description

Cattails Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Alamosa, Colorado.

Cattails Golf Course first opened for play in 1949. The course was designed by Richard M. Phelps. Cattails Golf Course is a cotton wood tree lined golf course with many wet lands through out. The golf course sits just north of the famous Rio Grande River with a 360 degree view of the Sangre DeCristo and San Juan Mountain Ranges at 7600 elevation.

Cattails Golf Course was formally known as Alamosa Golf Club. The course, started out as a 9 hole facility in 1949. In 1991, with the partnership of the City of Alamosa the golf course added the back nine. At that time the course was renamed Cattails Golf Course.

The new nine brought a mature and traditional front nine together with a new modern designed back nine. This gives the golf course a unique feel on each side. Since 1995 there have been many changes to the golf course. Such changes are: construction of new greens on the front nine, irrigation improvements, new fences and bridges, new tee boxes, a new maintenance building, a new parking lot, brand new 70 unit private cart storage building, and updated club cartstorage building, and a 6000 square foot Club House.

Cattails Golf Club plays to a par-71 and a maximum distance of 6,527 yards for a course rating of 70.1 and a slope rating of 125.
